WHY ADOPT AN OLIVE TREE
Protect a Living Part of the Alentejo
For centuries, old olive trees have shaped the landscape around Monte das Louzeiras and across the region of Serpa.
Today, many traditional olive groves are under pressure as old trees and mixed orchards give way to more intensive forms of cultivation.
By adopting one of our olive trees, you help us care for these trees, preserve the grove and protect a living part of the cultural landscape of the Alentejo.
Each adoption is more than a symbolic gesture. It connects you to a real tree, a real place and a story that continues to grow.
Every adopted tree helps keep part of this landscape standing.
THE GALEGA CLUB
Keeping the Old Trees Standing
The Galega Club takes its name from Galega Vulgar, one of Portugal’s traditional olive varieties and an important part of the old olive groves of the Alentejo.
Around Monte das Louzeiras and across the concelho of Serpa, Galega grows alongside other traditional varieties and forms part of a landscape shaped over generations.
Today, many old olive groves are disappearing under the pressure of large-scale clearing and more intensive cultivation. The Galega Club was created to bring people together around the preservation of these trees and the culture connected to them.
Every olive tree adoption includes membership in the Galega Club. Through your adoption, you help us continue caring for old trees, maintaining the grove and protecting a living part of the Alentejo.
To join the Galega Club is to help keep these trees standing.
